This picture must speak a thousand words! We are expecting our little one December 15, 2009!!

Eric and I always said that we would write a blog once we had something interesting going on in our lives. I think this qualifies!

I am only 7 (possibly 8) weeks, but we both are already feeling the effects of this little life. We have been to the doctor twice, and on this last visit we saw the heart beat. The baby is so small, but has this incredibly fast heart beat. It is so incredible. Eric was holding my hand and when I looked up at him, he was beaming. It was so special. We go back on May 11 (the day after my very first Mother's Day!) for another ultra sound and the doctor thinks they will be able to pinpoint my due date a little better.

To recap just a little, I found out that I was pregnant on April 10 (Good Friday) in the morning. I didn't tell Eric until that evening, after we had gone to church! It was a really special time for me to know this little secret and be praying all day long for our child and my husband. I needed that alone time to let this joyful news sink in, and think of just how I was going to share it with Eric. That evening Eric was hanging out on the couch watching a little TV and I told him I was doing something in the other room, so "don't come in!" I was creating a very special Easter basket! I wrote the words "PRAISE THE LORD HE HAS MADE YOU A DAD!" on separate pieces of paper and then folded them up and put them in plastic Easter eggs. I put the eggs along with some of his favorite candy in the Easter basket, stuck the positive pregnancy test in my pocket and went to join him on the couch. I not so slyly said you have to open the eggs in this order (and pointed to each of the eggs). He got a big smile on his face when he opened the first egg and it said "PRAISE" (He knew what was coming). After opening all of the eggs and confirming that he was truly a dad by looking at the positive test we both just laughed! We have determined that I can't cry in overwhelming situations. I am still waiting for the crying to start, and then probably not stop! Once we got a good laugh out, we stopped and thanked the Lord for this INCREDIBLE gift He has entrusted us with. We are so blessed and are thrilled to watch how the Lord unfolds His plan for this little one's life. WOW! we are parents!!

You'll have to check out Jenny's blog to see how we told my family (poladian.blogspot.com). We have had some extravagant reveals and some simple reveals, but each time we share the news we are more excited. We can't wait to share the details of this little one's development and arrival into the world. Stay tuned and I will do my best to keep this updated. Eric will probably be better at this than me!
